About the project
We are looking for a freelance illustrator to produce the marketing key art for one of our internal game projects. Project details will be shared with the selected artist after signing an NDA.
Visual reference
The target style is cinematic stylized cartoon, in the spirit of Monopoly GO, Royal Match, or Fall Guys. Both fully 3D rendered and 2D digital painting that emulates a 3D look are welcome. What matters is the final visual quality, not the production technique. Key visual qualities:
- Cinematic three-point lighting with colored rim lights
- Subsurface scattering effect on characters
- Soft shadows, golden hour atmosphere
- Saturated but controlled color grading
- Strong depth of field, dynamic composition
A complete moodboard and character references will be provided to the selected artist.
Deliverables
- 1 high-resolution key art illustration
- All source files (layered PSD and/or .blend project, including any 3D scene, lighting setup, textures, and post-production layers depending on the technique used)
The source files are essential. We will handle all secondary format adaptations internally (Steam capsules, social media, press kit, etc.).
Required profile
- Proven portfolio in stylized game illustration (3D rendered or 2D painted-as-3D)
- Experience with marketing key art for video games
- Ability to work from existing in-game character references
- Reliable communication and adherence to milestones
Strict conditions
- No generative AI use at any stage of production (Midjourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, etc.). Original hand-crafted work only.
- All source files must be delivered with the final asset.
- A process timelapse video and intermediate WIP screenshots are required as proof of authorship.
- Full transfer of commercial rights (work-for-hire), worldwide, in perpetuity.
- NDA required before project briefing.
- Any breach of these terms results in full refund and cancellation of the contract.
Timeline
ASAP. Fast turnaround is a strong plus.
